Epic consulting, done differently.
We support health systems across the full Epic ecosystem — implementation, optimization, project leadership, and the messy operational work that doesn't fit neatly into any category. Our consultants carry both deep technical fluency and the operational understanding to use it well. They don't just configure the system; they understand how configuration affects the people using the system every day and they work accordingly.

HOW WE HELP
We support across all Epic applications. Our consultants bring both deep technical skill and operational fluency. We don’t just deliver — we strengthen your teams. Brightwell consultants coach staff, improve cross-team understanding, and leave organizations more capable than when we arrived.

Epic Application Consultants
Our consultants are chosen from a deliberately small pool of people who've earned a reputation, not just a certification. Every Brightwell consultant has been vetted for both technical depth and the judgment that technical depth alone doesn't guarantee: the ability to read a room, translate across IT and operations, and care about outcomes beyond their own deliverable.

Project Leadership
Complex Epic initiatives — consolidations, upgrades, cross-application work — stall when no one is holding the full picture. Our project leaders do. They bring clarity to work that tends toward chaos, connect dots across teams, and communicate in a way that keeps stakeholders aligned rather than anxious.

Strategic Optimization
Some of the most valuable work we do isn't what a client asked for — it's what they didn't know to ask for. When operational pace obscures what's happening at the system level, things get missed: revenue, care gaps, inefficiencies that have become invisible through repetition. We find what's been overlooked and build solutions that last.

WHY BRIGHTWELL
Hospitals spend real money on consultants. Too often, what they get back is someone who can speak the language but doesn't improve outcomes. It shows up as frustrated teams, partial solutions, and problems that resurface the moment the engagement ends.
This isn't bad luck - it's structural.
In many firms, the people evaluating and deciding who is submitted to a role aren't experts, they're recruiters who haven't done the work themselves. The things that matter most - critical thinking, judgement, character, and an understanding of how to work effectively across operations and IT, don't show up on a resume. So those things don't get evaluated, and clients absorb the cost.
Brightwell exists for the organizations that are no longer willing to accept that outcome.
Every consultant on our team is vetted beyond the resume by those who have done the work themselves, and done it well. We look for technical depth, but also the kind of person who who treats your team as their own, not an audience; who finds the problem underneath the problem and fixes that too; and who takes ownership without being asked.
That combination is rarer than it should be. It's also the only version worth paying for — which is why we refuse to welcome anyone to our team who doesn't meet it. We’re deliberate about how we grow and who we take on because we only put our name on work we’re proud to stand behind.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
1
Integrity First
If we're not confident we can deliver meaningful value, we say so. That sometimes means turning down a contract. We'd rather have a short client list we're proud of than a long one we're not.
2
Skill and character are both required. Neither substitutes for the other.
Technical mastery matters. So does judgment, communication, and the willingness to do the right thing when no one is watching. We hire for both, because we've seen what happens when a firm optimizes for only one.
3
Find the real problem.
Symptoms are useful starting points but they're not the true problem. We trace issues through every layer — technical, operational, structural — until we understand what's actually driving them. Fixes that don't address root causes are just deferred costs.
4
The why doesn't change.
Hospitals run on mission and value because both matter. The best Epic work serves both — improving the patient experience and protecting the revenue that funds it. We keep that in mind on every engagement, even when the work feels purely technical.
